Dipropylene glycol is also known as Dipropylene glycol, Dipropylene glycol, Dipropylene glycol, 4-oxaheptane-2,6-diol, 1,1, -oxydi-2-propanol, 2-hydroxypropyl ether,2,2, -dihydroxydipropyl ether, or DPG for short.The molecular formula is C6H14O3.Dipropylene glycol at room temperature is a kind of odorless, colorless, sweet, water-soluble and hygroscopic liquid.Soluble in water and toluene, but soluble in methanol, ether, has a spicy sweet, non-corrosive.Very little irritation to the skin, very low toxicity.In case of open fire, high heat combustible.Explosive mixtures can be formed with air. It is a colorless, slightly viscous liquid.The boiling point was 233ºC, the relative density was 1.0252 (20/20ºC), the refractive index was 1.439 (25ºC), and the flash point was 137ºC.Soluble in water and toluene.

Applications

1. Dipropylene glycol is the most ideal solvent for many flavors, fragrances and cosmetics applications. This raw material has good water, oil and hydrocarbon co-solubility, and has a slight odor, little skin irritation, and low toxicity. The distribution of isomers is uniform and the quality is excellent;
2. Dipropylene glycol can also be used as a coupling agent and humectant in a variety of different cosmetic applications. In the perfume field, the proportion of dipropylene glycol used exceeds 50%. In some other applications, the proportion of dipropylene glycol is generally within 10% (weight). Some specific product application areas include: curling liquid, skin cleansing liquid (cold cream, shower gel, body wash and skin care lotion) deodorant, facial, hand and body skin care products, moisturizing skin care products and lipsticks, etc.;
3. Dipropylene glycol is also used in the production of unsaturated resins and saturated resins. The resin produced by it has superior flexibility, crack resistance and weather resistance. The product has long-term resistance to yellowing.
4. Used as a solvent for cellulose acetate; nitrocellulose; shellac varnish; castor oil. It can also be used to make plasticizers, fumigants, synthetic detergents, etc.
